Pepr Dates — Privacy Policy
Pepr Dates is operated by Sparks Media Group LLC, doing business as Pepr Dates (“Pepr,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Pepr Dates website and web application (the “Service”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
Pepr is a dating service for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
1. Information You Give Us
When you join the waitlist (on peprdates.com): your email address and the community (city) you want to join.
When you register an account: your email address, nickname, date of birth, the community you join, and the account type you select.
When you build your profile: photos, a bio, and the profile details you choose to share — such as your gender, who you are interested in meeting, lifestyle answers, and similar prompts.
When you use the Service: offers you make or respond to, messages you send in unlocked chats, and reports or blocks you submit.
When you make a purchase: credit purchases are processed by PayPal. We receive transaction confirmations and records (amount, credit pack, transaction ID) but never your full card number or bank credentials.
A note on sensitive information
A dating profile is personal by nature. Information such as your gender, the gender of people you want to meet, and anything you choose to write in your bio or messages may reveal information about your sexual orientation or private life. We collect this information only because you provide it to run your profile and matches, we use it only to operate the Service, and we never sell it or use it for third-party advertising.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Like most online services, we receive technical information when you use the Service: IP address, device and browser type, and logs of requests to our systems. We use Firebase App Check and Google reCAPTCHA to verify that requests come from real people using our real apps, which is how we keep spam and abuse out of the Service. We use this information for security, abuse prevention (including rate limiting), and to keep the Service working — not to build advertising profiles.
Fraud and safety signals. When you sign in and when you use core features (making or answering an offer, opening a chat, sending a message, changing your city, saving your profile, buying credits, and a once-a-day presence check), we record the IP address and browser type of that request. From the IP address we derive, through a third-party lookup service (§5), the approximate location at country and region level, the network operator, and whether the address belongs to a VPN, proxy, hosting provider or Tor exit. We do not collect your device’s GPS location, and we do not use browser fingerprinting.
We use these signals only for fraud and abuse prevention and for safety review by our staff. They are never shown to other members and never used for advertising. A signal can lead a member of our staff to look more closely at an account; no automated decision suspends, restricts, or contacts you on the basis of these signals alone. Our staff see a truncated form of the address (the network prefix) and a general browser family, not your full IP address or browser string.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and operate your account, profile, offers, and chats.
- To show you and other members what the Service is for: your profile is visible to other members in your community according to the Service’s matching rules.
- To process credit purchases and maintain accurate transaction records.
- To send Service email: sign-in links, account confirmations, and — for waitlist members — your invitation when your community opens.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines, and preventing fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
4. What Other Members See
Other members see the profile you build: your photos, nickname, bio, and profile details. Two things they never see:
- Your date of birth. Other members see only your age.
- Your email address. Communication happens inside the Service.
5. Who We Share Information With
We use a small number of service providers to run Pepr. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:
| Provider | What it does | What it processes |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase / Google Cloud | Hosting, authentication, database, file storage | Account and profile data, photos, messages |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Abuse and bot prevention | Device and usage signals |
| PayPal | Payment processing | Purchase and payout details; we never see your full card number |
| Resend | Sending Service email | Your email address and the content of Service emails |
| IPinfo | Looking up the location, network operator and classification of an IP address for fraud and safety review (§2) | The IP address of a request, and nothing else about you |
| IPQualityScore | On request by our safety staff, a second assessment of a small number of recent IP addresses on an account already under review (§2) | Those IP addresses, and nothing else about you |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights and safety of our members, the public, or Pepr.
6. Waitlist Information
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and chosen community so we can invite you when your community opens. We use it for that invitation and for Service announcements about your waitlist status — not for marketing lists. You can ask us to remove you from the waitlist at any time by emailing support@peprdates.com, and we will delete your entry.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information while your account exists so the Service can work.
If you delete your account, we erase your profile, photos, and messages. We retain transaction records where the law requires it (for example, purchase records for tax and accounting purposes), and we may retain limited records connected to enforcement actions — such as a ban — to keep the Service safe.
Waitlist entries are kept until you are invited, you ask to be removed, or the waitlist is retired.
Fraud and safety signals (§2) are kept as follows. The record of each request — including the full IP address and browser string — is kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically; automatic deletion can take up to a day after the 90 days end. A per-account summary (countries and networks seen, counts and rates, and a truncated network prefix) is kept while your account exists and is deleted with it. Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days after deletion, as described in the Terms of Use.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: connections to the Service are encrypted, access to production systems is restricted, member-facing apps can never read another member’s private data directly, and every request to our backend must pass app verification. No online service can promise perfect security, but we design for the assumption that dating data deserves more care than most.
9. Your Rights
You can access and update your profile information in the app at any time. You can also:
- Delete your account from account settings, which erases your profile, photos, and messages as described in §7.
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@peprdates.com. For the fraud and safety signals in §2, the copy includes the per-account summary (countries and networks seen, and a truncated network prefix); the per-request records may already have been deleted under the 90-day window in §7.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
⚠ State-specific rights (including California) and international transfer language pending legal review.
We will verify requests to protect your account and respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy materially, we will post the updated version with a new version date and notify you through the Service or by email before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
